Uganda Signs Three Memoranda with Ethiopia at 2nd Ethio - Uganda JMC

The 2nd Ethio - Uganda Joint \r\nMinisterial Commission (JMC) convened in Addis Ababa from 2nd-4th July \r\n2015. Hon. Dr. Crispus Kiyonga led Uganda's delegation and witnessed the\r\n signing of three (3) Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal \r\nDemocratic Republic of Ethiopia in the following areas of cooperation;

  • MoU in the field of Education
  • MoU on technical cooperation in the field of Agriculture
  • MoU in the field of Cultural Heritage and Tourism
The\r\n meeting considered other areas of cooperation as enumerated in the \r\nDeclaration of Strategic Partnership and the agreement establishing the \r\nJMC signed on 22nd July 2011 in Kampala. Further negotiations are \r\nongoing to conclude MoU¢®¯s on cooperation in Trade; and in the field of \r\nWomen, Children and Youth.

The\r\n JMC is the framework of bilateral cooperation between the two \r\ncountries, and facilitates sector Ministries of both countries to \r\nconclude agreements or MoUs to foster bilateral relations in the \r\ndifferent areas. To date, several agreements and MoUs have been \r\nconcluded in in the areas of Defense and Security; Transport; Energy; \r\nHealth; and Cooperation between Kampala Capital City Authority and Addis\r\n Ababa City Administration.

The\r\n JMC which is held every two years will next be hosted in 2017 in \r\nKampala, Uganda.However senior officials/experts from both countries are\r\n to regularly meet to implement the agreed areas of cooperation in \r\naccordance with their action plans.
